Mobile Payments and Money Transfer
Conference day one: Tuesday 16 June
mWallets – mobile payments & money transfer
This breakout examines opportunities for mobile stored value payment solutions, and the integration of mobile money and prepaid cards. 70% of mobile payment initiatives announced in the last 6 months have been in mobile money transfer*, and with money transfer being one of the largest prepaid niche markets, this session will focus on an MMT market forecast to generate $5bn in global revenues by 2013* (Source: Juniper Research). While we'll hear about emerging market mobile money projects like M-PESA in Kenya, MMT is a product for the developed world too, as demonstrated by Monilink's recent announcement that their service is already transferring over £1/2m per month. We'll focus in particular on getting cash in and cash out of the system and the role of prepaid cards in integrating mobile money with the financial infrastructure.
